Glasgow Dance Theatre

Ruth Mills is at the helm of Glasgow Dance Theatre, engaging the skills and passion of exceptional dancers, musicians and artists in the creation of pure and communicative dance works.

Being based in Glasgow can wield huge rewards. It is a hub of artistic creation and activity. It's everywhere!  I grew up around musicians, actually, I don't really know anyone from the West of Scotland who didn't in some way experience live music, played by someone they know, maybe in the sitting room at a pals house. Or even your own Dad busking out the odd bit of Django. (Indeed my Dad does! and all my uncles) In fact, my life is filled with family and close friends who can play instruments or sing very well indeed.
It's this rich legacy that provides the foundations of all my inspiration as a maker of art.

Valentine

Ruth has been spending time in the studio with dancers Ali Temple and Wills McAslan in the creation of her new dance work 'Valentine.'
After very positive previews, we are seeking support to develop this as a full length touring dance work and to bring this to fruition for February 2012
